Zumba zumba fitness fitness workouts working out weight weight loss gym exercise

I think in order to join a gym, everyone needs to take a group exercise etiquette class.

Some rules that I would put in based on the class that I had today:

  1. If you are going to a class where you will be moving a lot (Zumba, aerobics, kick-boxing, etc.), do not stand directly next to anyone else. Give yourself and everyone else plenty of leg/arm room so no one gets kicked/punched in the face.
  2. I understand that it would be silly to shower right before going to work out, but do not come to class already in desperate need of a shower. No one wants to smell that.
  3. I have no problem with people who can’t keep up with moves/steps. Some people are more coordinated than others and that’s okay; the fact that they got their butt to the gym is good enough. But if your in something like a Zumba class and you’re having problems keeping up at least move in the same direction as the rest of the class. If the class is doing a step that goes forward, you go forward. If the class is doing a step that goes to the left, you go to the left. Prevent traffic jams.
  4. If you leave your spot to get a drink or wipe your face or something, wait for an appropriate time to go back to your spot. This is not a mosh pit, you can’t push your way in as everyone else is moving around.

If you can believe it, these “rules” were all broken by one woman who was standing in front of me (after I moved back because she decided to stand right next to me) at Zumba. She didn’t move. The whole time. I made the most of my situation and still got a good work out, but next week I’m moving to the other side of the studio.

That aside, this was my first free Saturday morning (and therefore my first Zumba class) in like two months. It felt great :D

weight loss weight fitness exercise eating food

Since last Saturday I went to the gym 5 times.

I don’t think that has ever happened ever. I only lost .6lbs, but the cooking activities at camp this week were a little on the decadent side so it really wasn’t a surprise.

I’m really gonna bunker down this week and stick with eating healthy. We’ll see what happens!

weight weight loss exercise fitness sore working out crunches abs core strength

I. Am. So. SORE!

The one thing I hate about going back to the gym after a long period of time. I did a whole bunch of crunches at the gym on Tuesday and my upper abdomen has been crazy sore ever since. My hips aren’t doing so hot either, but it’s my abs that are putting a cramp in my style (pun totally intended).

I’m having a hard time deciding whether I should work out today. I don’t know if it will be fine, or if my abs will just make it miserable.

What do you think, tumblr? How much pain is too much pain to work out?

Went to go to the 9:20 Zumba class at my gym this morning. I get there and realize that the class was actually yesterday.

Not amused.

I’M BAAAAAAAACK!!!

THE HIATUS IS OVER! Summer 2012 is in full swing and I am more than ready to get back into the weight loss state of mind.

The game plan:

Food

  • Follow WW like it’s my job. All tracking, all the time.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Eat fruit when I would normally eat chips.
  • Here’s a biggie: Never let myself be starving. Eat filling, yet healthy snacks throughout the day so my eyes never get bigger than my stomach at meal times.

Exercise

  • GYM GYM GYM! I just renewed my membership at the fabulous women’s gym down the street from me for a whole year!
  • Classes! My gym offers Zumba and a bunch of yoga classes and I plan on taking full advantage of them.
  • Get active with the kids at camp instead of tanning on the grass (though, tanning is very nice :P)
  • Go on walks? Maybe?

Motivation

  • GET EXCITED!! I’m improving myself. This is not a chore, IT’S STEPS TOWARDS THE NEW ME!

So that’s the plan. I went to my first Zumba class of the summer this morning and I really liked it. I might have to double up on the sports bras and find tighter shirts though. Too much jiggling that I would rather not experience while trying to get my salsa on. Other than that though, totally excited to take more classes.

20 LBS BY SEPTEMBER!! LET’S DO THIS!!

I’m not the type of person that can just do cardio for hours without distractions… and unfortunately music just doesn’t cut it for me anymore.
The only way I can go on the elliptical for 45 minutes - 1 hour every other day is because I watch netflix on my ipad while I’m doing it, I almost forget that I’m working out <3

I think it would have made a world of difference if I could get some sort of 4G Netflix when I used to workout at a gym. I could ride an exercise bike for ages if I didn’t get so bored.

Ugh I wish this worked for me. Whenever I watch movies or television shows when I’m on the elliptical I get distracted by it and don’t go nearly as fast as I could/should be going. It sucks because I do get bored :/
